Regular Classes Offered & Descriptions

Ballet/Tap Combo Class
Students taking this class get the benefit of learning two dance forms while parents benefit by only paying for one class and not two.

Ballet is the foundation subject for all other forms of dance and is designed to develop a dancer’s strength, technique & flexibility. This class will consist of barre work, center floor, across the floor progressions & choreography.

Tap dance emphasizes the flow of movement by teaching the dancer to find rhythms and beats not only in music but in their own bodies.

Jazz
Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and lyrical dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jass also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Emphasis is on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, technique, flexibility and style. Each level of jazz is a coninuation of the previous level and increases in difficulty.

Lyrical
A highly technical and expressive style of dance that fuses ballet technique with jazz and contemporary movement to interpret the lyrics of the music. This class will focus on technique, flexibility, improvisation and choreography. Ballet background is recommended.

Hip-Hop
Hip-Hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music. Often distinguished by its “freestyle” nature it also includes a wide range of styles including breaking, locking and popping. This class will focus on learning the different hip-hop styles aas well as choreographed freestyle movement.

Tap
The rhythm and movement of tap, created by the metal taps on the heels and toes of a dancer’s shoes, transforms the dancer into a percussive musician. Tap dance emphasizes the flow of movements by teaching hte dancer to find rhythms and beats not only in music by in their own bodies..
